Signsoft intelliBO development support

Signsoft intelliBO is a persistence middleware based on the JDO1/JDO2 specifications. It allows transparent storage of object and object graphs in relational data sources. I.e., it maps entities stored in a database to Java classes and fields/properties and vice versa. The mapping rules are described in JDO mapping files. To ease the burden of creating and maintaining these mapping descriptors, we provide you a feature-rich development environment based on the Eclipse IDE. You are free to use the Signsoft intelliBO development environment, provided that you agree to the Signsoft intelliBO Community Edition license.

Overview

The Signsoft intelliBO development environment is based on several Eclipse plug-ins. It consists of:

• the JDO mapping file wizard
• the JDO file editor with validation and code completion
• code snippets for field, relationship and inheritance mappings
• the Signsoft intelliBO tool integration (enhancer and verifier)
• the Signsoft intelliBO complete product reference

The development environment can be installed and used without an existing Signsoft intelliBO runtime installation. However, you will be restricted to creating and editing JDO mapping files as no parts of the runtime environment are included in the plug-ins. The plug-in help section will show you how to integrate an existing runtime installation.

Requirements

1. JDK 1.5 or higher
2. Eclipse 3.2.2 (Callisto) or Eclipse 3.3 (Europa)
3. Eclipse XML Editors and Tools (see below)

Installation

1. Please go to the menu [Help], [Software updates], [Find and Install ...]
2. Choose (o)Search for new features to install (second option)
3. Create a [New Remote Site ...]
   
   The update sites are:
   • http://update.intellibo.com/beta/eclipse3.2.2 (Callisto)
   • http://update.intellibo.com/beta/eclipse3.3 (Europa)
4. Hit [Finish] if you are using Eclipse 3.3 with Eclipse XML Editors and Tools already installed. If not, read on.

1. Please choose both entries:
   • Signsoft intelliBO development, and
   • Callisto Discovery Site (Eclipse 3.2) / Europa Discovery Site (Eclipse 3.3)
   
2. Hit [Finish]
3. Choose a adaquate update site mirror when being asked.
4. Unfold Callisto Discovery Site (this is due to a minor by in Eclipse).
   
5. Select the Signsoft intelliBO development.
6. Choose [Select Required].
7. Hit [Next] and complete.

If installation was successfull, there is an additional icon in the About Eclipse SDK Dialog.

How to update

We will provide new versions of the Signsoft intelliBO development enviroment on a regular basis. To update an existing installation, the build-in Eclipse mechanisms can be used. For example, in Menu [Help], [Software Updates], [Manage configuration]:
